Kenya’s National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has approved performance trials at seven test sites for the GM cassava developed by the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, which is resistant to Cassava Brown Streak Disease. The approval was announced by Mr. Muchiri of the National Biosafety Authority during the NBA’s 11th annual biosafety conference. The NPT will be carried out by the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Services (KEPHIS) for two planting seasons. More details on this approval can be found in this article.
